PortConMaine

Postby Chancy Sparrow » Thu Nov 09, 2006 3:01 pm

Hey! Just noticed that there wasn't a post up here for my dear local PortCon, so figured I'd make one. Anyone been to past PortCons? I went last year (2006, the year of the pirate) as one of the many Tifas. My friends and I sold Paopu plushies there too.

Anyone planning on going this year? The theme is "Reanimated" (aka: zombies and other various and sundry dead things) and it runs from June 22nd through the 24th. The website can be found here (( http://portconmaine.com/ )) if you want more information. ^^

I've been to the last two Portcons. I've met alot of great people at this con and hope to make it next year. The only problem is with too many cons in a row and not sure if I can handle four in five weeks.

Yeah, it sucks how a bunch of the New England cons are all around the same time. I doubt I can make it to all of them either.

Did you cosplay at PCM last year?

I've never cosplayed at any con. I always say I want to, but I think I'd drive myself crazy being a perfectionist.

I'm either going to PortConMaine, or to another event in Conneticut, I haven't made up my mind yet..

The thing in Connecticut is really emotionally based, I have to want to go to actually go to it..and there are certain conditions that I don't want to be a part of..and my best guess is those are going to be in full effect.

EDIT: So what I am trying to say is that it's more likely that I am going to PortConMaine, because the other situation would be like going to a con with a large group of people who don't understand how a con works or why it's even held. Then get extremely rude and disruptive to the process when they find out, because they weren't mature enough to attend in the first place.

Huh? I'm a little confused here. I've never met anyone like that at Connecticon. Are you talking about attendees or staff?

Er...the meeting in Conneticut isn't an anime Con, it's a religious thing...

AH!! I see. When you said Connecticut I thought you meant that you had to choose between Portcon and Connecticon. Duh, on my part. That's what happens when you read things fast and don't absorb the whole conversation.
