Devil May Cry Series
Any fans out there? Would love to talk about these games...
Some Conversation Starters:
Who were the best characters of the series overall?
In which was Dante portrayed best, why?
Which game had the best combat, why?
What were the best weapons?
DMC3 original or DMC 3 Special Edition?
What would you want to seen in a DMC 5? Plot? Characters? Combat? Ect.
Dante or Nero?
Ect, ect, ect...

Re: Devil May Cry Series
To choose between Danta and Nero is just wrong. . . There is just no choosing. . .
And Devil May Cry is just a fun game to begin with.

Re: Devil May Cry Serise
Really? I'm not sure what to make of Nero... I haven't played 4 yet but I'm a little skeptical... Zero Punctuation (http://www.escapistmagazine.com/videos/ ... -May-Cry-4) made me afraid of it... Also, I trust DMC's core combat, if anything, they have that down pact... But I feel wronged as a fan that our beloved protagonist has been ousted as the focal point... and looks like a cowboy. And... I dunno, what Nero's general personality? IGN described him endearingly as emo, and that puts me off...

Re: Devil May Cry Serise
Seeing as I have no PS3 or 360 (yet), I haven't played DMC4, but I'll go ahead and say that DMC3SE kicked SOOOOOOOO much ass! XD If you're going for one, go for Special Edition. It has Virgil mode! YOu play thhe game through with Virgil! XD I'm not sure if the regular edition has the Demo Digest, bnut once you've seen a Movie sequence, you can watch it over again, and after you beat the game, you can just sit down and WATCH the game! XD it's about 2 hours long, and anytime you don't physically controll Dante is recorded, so it can actually be watched as a full movie! XD
That allone is enough to keep me using this game! XD

Re: Devil May Cry Serise
^^ Special Edition WAS awesome!
Though, I've never played regular... I'm sure I could never beat it... Waaaay too hard... Given, it took me very little time to get though DMC3: SE but that's really just cuz it was a short game...
The best thing about special edition though (better even then Virgil mode!) is how well they know how to reward players for beating the game! When I finished the game no reward brought me more joy then unlocking the ability to play as SHIRTLESS DANTE. XD This is a very shallow thing to say but, even if he wasn't hot the comedic value is great! XD I don't have the systems for DMC4 either... but... bleh... I'm so skeptical of Nero! At the sight of him I want to cry "sacrilege!!!!!!"
...But maybe he's cool. He just really struck me as a "dumbed down" Dante. ><; Haaaah... This is the part where I get eaten by Nero fans... But... I dunno... I'm mad because the closed up a lot of openings for future games featuring Dante.

Re: Devil May Cry Serise
Well, the first thing about DMC4 (before you really build an opinion about things like Dante's cowboy boots) is to look back at the other three; in one we got 'standard Dante', two gave us 'Sephiroth Dante' (I'm sorry, it looks like he's wearing back Advent Children makeup), and three gave us young shirtless Dante. If you take those in, I'm thankful that all they did to him was give him combat boots.
Nero's personality... is a bit of a challenge. Take DMC3's young Dante, strip away some of the raw arrogance, throw in a true romantic interest, and spend a lot of time saying 'what the hell is going on?' and you've pretty much got it. He's a rather standard anime protagonist, actually, except with a good voice actor. I highly recommend DMC4 to anyone who hasn't played it. If you don't get a chance to, I suggest that you swing by the video gaming room during the convention to give it a whirl.

Re: Devil May Cry Series
I agree... Dante's personality has gone all over the board in the previous games... ><; Aggravatingly so. I liked it in three though, I found the raw arrogance was enjoyable, even though the character development was clumsy... Dante was lovable because he's an ass. He's THE ass. Nero DOES seem like a typical anime protagonist from what I've seen and that's what puts me off that personality type gets old...
I will "give it a whirl," though. I look forward to playing it for the combat if nothing else.
In all the series there's so much potential that they just never tapped into... Potential for a deeper plot some BETTER WRITING! JESUS HICKORY CHRIST I DON'T KNOW ABOUT 4, BUT ONE, TWO, AND THREE WERE WRITTEN HORRIFICALLY. (Though you gotta love Dante's one-liners. XD) They already have an amazing combat system, but rhhhhg... A realistic female side-kick would be nice... I'm mad at the team from not DOING MORE WITH THE GAMES... Yet... Who knows, maybe 4 will blow me away... I'd be overjoyed if it did.

Re: Devil May Cry Series
If you want story/plot... there's always the Devil May Cry anime. The first ep is basically an introduction ep, and you have to look for the plot till about ep 6 but it's kick ass, just like we like it! XD
Vol 1+2 of the dubs are available at places like FYE.
