Re: Bigger and Better for 2008
Thursday does still need some ironing out but I would expect better details fairly soon. Now that all the major conventions are over for this year (at least for myself and the Baku staff) we can really focus on what we are doing.
An important note that not everyone may be aware of, there is no school locally on Thursday and Friday. At least for the Essex/Essex Jct school district and I would think the same would go for the Burlington area (can anyone confirm?). So this is a great chance to get things rolling and make good use of Thrusdays rented space.

Not that it's very close, but Spaulding and other Barre/Montpelier school are also closed on Thursday and Friday.

I think that it is pretty likely that most of the state's schools will be closed. The schedule I have doesn't say anything, but they usually have parent/teacher meetings or Teacher inservice days that time of year.

Re: Bigger and Better for 2008
I have a Japanese Arts and Culture class until 5:15 (if I left then, I'd get to you guys at around 8:30, barring not too terrible traffic), and I could miss it and leave at around 11 in the morning (missing some other classes), except that I have a quiz that day and am crappy at making up excuses. Do you guys think I could wiggle my way into having the quiz early if I explain that I'm going to a Japanese cultural event? Focus more on the cultural panels like tea ceremony and the language itself instead of being like 'well, it's an anime convention
' since that's really not what my prof digs (she's more into literature)?

You could always give it a shot. . .she may not buy it though. But there are a lot of different panels at Baku about Japanese culture and language. . .more than I've seen at other conventions I've been to. So it wouldn't be lying or anything =)
Re: Bigger and Better for 2008
Well, My friend last year, was able o get school off and get credit for it, by integrating the Con into his final project involving aspects of Japanese culture. He yused the fact that the Con had informative panels on parts of the Japanese culture as an in.
If I said that I never feared the Darkness, but indeed welcomed it, would you still love me...

I figure I sould atleast give it a shot and if they're iffy, do a report on one of the panels or something. I enjoy this stuff so it's not like it'd be torturous to research a topic or anything.

Re: Bigger and Better for 2008
Going back to an earlier discussion in this thread... how is thursday going to work?
Can we pick up our badges that day and will stuff be going on, or is just a set up day for Friday - Sunday? (Im trying to plan ahead as my friend reserved a room for Fri-Sun without realizing that Thursday was part of the Con <_<)

Re: Bigger and Better for 2008
We are actually nailing down the last few details about that this week. I think I have almost everything lined up. I can't give you all the details as I have one or two more things to confirm but I can tell you that anyone interested in getting as much convention into their week as possible should make time on Thursday to be there if they can. Hopefully by noon we will have things up and ready. There will be things to do and more than last year. More details soon!
