Cosplay Chess Information
Cosplay chess is much like a regular game of chess, except instead of moving ordinary pieces on a chessboard, two players direct the movements of thirty-two people in costume, acting as the pieces on a giant board.
Some events are planned in advance, while the improv parts such as attacks, defense, and death scenes are prepared by the participants and rehearsed directly beforehand
Cosplay Chess Rules
You are required to fill out an application form.
The Cosplay Director has final say in everything concerning the game.
On stage, you will follow the directions of the chess players and MC.
You will be asked to prepare an elaborate attack. If you are selected, the chess coordinators will brief you thoroughly by e-mail before the match and help you plan.
We will choose thirty-two chess piece participants who will be active on the chessboard.
Every applicant must submit a link to a web page with a color photo of the applicant wearing the specific costume that they intend to wear as a participant.
Since this is not a costume contest, costumes may be submitted that were not made by the applicant or that have been professionally tailored or contain commercially manufactured pieces. Costumes may also
be submitted that have previously been entered in the costume contests or masquerades.
Experienced cosplayers will be given priority, although it will certainly be possible to be selected if you are beginning cosplayers.
All costumes must be appropriate for wear in a family environment.
No real weapons are permitted, only weapons that would be allowed in the cosplay masq. will be allowed.
No props on stage. This means no confetti, no rose petals, or anything else that will get in your fellow players way.
Selected applicants and alternates will be notified by e-mail as decisions are made. You must keep your e-mail contact information up-to-date and stay in touch with the Chess Director.
At the con you will be required to check in on before six p.m. on Saturday. Please make sure to do this or you will not be allowed to participate.
